What is mixed fencing?
E-Shido is a weapon based sport that involves the use of multiple weapon styles and martial arts disciplines. The wide array of weapon options creates matches that vary wildly in tactics and strategy.
What makes E-Shido a sport for the 21st century?
E-Shido fighters wear electronic suits that serve 3 purposes:
- 1) They protect the fighters.
- 2) They light up when and where they are hit, making it easy for viewers to follow the action.
- 3) They transmit hits to the electronic scoring system, with scoring being displayed with video game style power bar.
The result is matches are easy to follow and presented in a way that appeals to combat sports fans and video game fans alike, including younger generations that will grow up with the sport.
Why is E-Shido safe for all ages?
E-Shido is played with non-metal weapons wearing gear that
protects the head and body from strikes. Strikes to the arms, legs and torso are scored while strikes to the head and body are not,
removing any incentive to target attacks that could
cause neck or head injuries.
Strikes that employ excessive force (25 lbs or pressure or more) are not scored, discouraging attacks that may cause injury.
